An Aberdeen graduate, Maggie Cruickshank retired last year after 26 years as a clinical academic at the University of Aberdeen, working in gynaecology and researching the prevention of lower genital tract cancers. HPV vaccination has been the greatest innovation in this field during her medical career but cervical cancer remains a leading cause of death in women worldwide.
